"Ca S'Alou"
Is the name given to the ruddy coloured land on the island of Mallorca. It's a clayey, reddish soil, often mixed with gravel.
How to integrate
Horizontality as a measure of respect for the surrounding mountain.
It's a house designed from the materiality of the site, using the earth from the excavation.
A unique design was inspired by Mediterranean nostalgia and simple, minimalist aesthetics. Earthy tones, simple forms free from distraction foster relaxation and enhance the idyllic atmosphere of this magical rustic place.
The two volumes are symmetrical and reminiscent of traditional buildings typical to
Mallorca called Sestadors, which were used for animals, cows and sheep.
Outside inside is the main vision of the interior design.
The materials are noble because they are natural and not processed.
They calcify over time, are affected by lichens and the wood returns to the colour it
really is.
The connection with architectural traditions and an in-depth knowledge of the place
moves from picturesque to the local, understood as accessible and known.
Non standard
We do not use standardized materials. The house is unique at the moment everything is
made. Art and furniture are chosen for their natural materials and local context.
An architecture that changes and transforms over time as a friendly and consistent adaptation.
Topographically, the house needed to be made as one floor to be hidden from the street,
and it naturally wants to sit on the slope and adapt to it.
